Our client, a leading water sector specialist are seeking Electrical Engineering Graduates based near London, interested in a career in the water industry.
Job Overview As a Graduate Electrical Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of electrical systems across water and wastewater treatment facilities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will help ensure safe, reliable, and energy-efficient operations. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges in a regulated and sustainability-focused industry.
- 45 hour week
- This is an site & office based role, typically with a 60-40 split between site and office responsibilities.
- Main operational area will be London & Thames Valley.
- Candidates must hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
- Candidates must have right to work in the UK as sponsorship cannot be provided.
- Van will be provided or mileage paid if using personal car for business use.
Key Responsibilities - Assist in the design, specification, and commissioning of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Contribute to projects involving pump systems, motor control centres (MCCs), SCADA, instrumentation, LV MCCs and power distribution.
- Support planned maintenance and troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime.
- Carry out site inspections and condition assessments of existing electrical assets.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, and process engineers.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, standards (e.g., BS7671), and industry best practices.
- Help prepare documentation including technical drawings, reports, and risk assessments.
- Participate in energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Contribute to capital delivery projects and asset improvement plans.
- Engage in professional development and training as part of a structured graduate program.
Requirements Essential: - Bachelor’s degree (BEng or BSc) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. (Electronic Engineering/Process Engineering).
- Strong understanding of electrical principles and systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to various operational sites.
- Team-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to meaningful engineering solutions.
- UK Driving Licence
Desirable: - Placement or internship experience in a utilities or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with water/wastewater operations, process engineering, or instrumentation.
- Familiarity with Fluid Systems/Process Control/Level Instruments.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., HSE, CDM Regulations).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
