About the Opportunity
The Band 6 Trainee Forensic Psychologist role is a fixed-term post until March 2026, based at Edward House, a low secure male mental health unit in Chelmsford. Under supervision, you'll deliver psychological assessments and interventions to service users detained under the Mental Health Act. You'll work as part of a diverse multidisciplinary forensic psychology department, with opportunities to collaborate across sites using video conferencing. EPUT offers excellent CPD, training, flexible working from day one, and welcomes both UK-based and international candidates—with onboarding support for overseas applicants.
What We’re Looking For
- Enrolled on a professional training course leading to HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist
- Knowledge of forensic psychology models, risk assessment (e.g. HCR-20v3, RSVPv2, SARA), and offence-related therapy
- Experience working with complex client groups and applying psychology across diverse settings
- Ability to work in emotionally challenging environments, maintain professionalism, and communicate effectively
- Skills in teaching/training and managing workloads
- Desirable: experience in clinical supervision, service development, and/or personal experience of mental health challenges
