We have exciting job opportunities for experienced Community Safety Officers

Job role
These roles come during a period of change, with a change of UK government, national review of community safety partnerships, as well as a changing context for Solihull.
A refresh to our approach to community safety is needed, with more intelligence-led practices, community engagement and multi-agency problem solving. Whilst there are solid foundations to build from, there are significant opportunities for the right candidates to help us improve and shape our Council and multi-agency approach to community safety, engaging with issues like gangs and organised crime, serious violence, exploitation and extremism, for instance.
In this varied and interesting role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Safer Solihull Partnership (our local Community Safety Partnership) ensuring it can operate as effectively as possible to deliver its legal responsibilities and duties which promote safer places and communities across Solihull.
- Co-ordinating the development and delivery of community safety related interventions, plans and projects. This will involve working with a range of partners including West Midlands Police
- Research, data collection and analysis to help inform future policy, strategy, programmes and service delivery.
Key requirements
You will have:
- Educated to degree level in a related subject or relevant community safety qualifications, or evidence of significant knowledge and skills acquired through extended experience in community safety.
- Relevant knowledge and experience of community related work, services and interventions within a local authority or related organisation.
- Experience of working successfully in complex partnership environments and/or multi-agency teams. Able to use your developed interpersonal skills to bring change through influence, negotiation and collaboration.
- Analytical skills, able to interpret and evaluate statistical and management information, together with experience of developing and implementing policy, strategy, projects and/or programmes.
The offer
In return, we offer the opportunity to further develop your experience and expertise, ideas and skills within a challenging and dynamic environment.
As an employee of Solihull Council, you will also benefit from a competitive salary, attractive staff benefits, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and a range of flexible working options. This will include benefitting from the implementation of smarter working practices, reflecting that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go to do it. Whilst your office location will be at the Council House you will be able to work from other locations around the borough and from home, as appropriate.
