We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our new Community Warden Team, based in the Community Safety Team within the Community Protection Service Area.
Community Wardens provide a highly visible uniformed presence, acting as a ‘Council Ambassador’, engaging with the public using the towns, parks, and open spaces, delivering excellent customer service, and liaising with police, CCTV, other council services, businesses, community groups and external agencies.
They play an integral role in the prevention and reduction of serious violence and anti-social behaviour and therefore need to be proficient in dealing with conflict situations, be a good problem solver, confident decision maker and have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills. They will also be a good team player who can work using their own initiative.
The role will require that Fixed Penalty Notices be issued for breaches of Public Spaces Protection Orders such as anti-social drinking and drug use. and as such will be required to understand the legislation necessary, for which training will be given.
These posts are offered as 12-month fixed-term contracts with a 37-hour working week on a shift rota which will involve a mixture of days, lates and nights and include weekend working.
