About the Opportunity
As an Army Doctor, you’ll start as a General Duties Medical Officer, treating soldiers in a variety of environments—from field hospitals to sports events. You'll receive world-class military and medical training, gain leadership skills, and have access to postgraduate study in specialisms such as emergency medicine, surgery, or psychiatry. You’ll also benefit from a strong social life, global travel, and up to £75,000 in bursary support while studying medicine.
What We're Looking For
- Aged 17 years & 9 months to 36 years & 11 months (up to 55 for specialists)
- Medical degree and GMC registration, or in final stages of medical training
- Willing to complete military officer training at Sandhurst
- Prepared for a 14-week medical officer course and service commitment
- Basic fitness (Mid Thigh Pull 50kg, Medicine Ball Throw 2.7m, Beep Test Level 6.6)
- Strong clinical competence, adaptability, and leadership potential
Student bursary (up to £75,000):
- Open to candidates who will graduate with an Army-endorsed medical degree and intend to join the Royal Army Medical Service for a minimum period of 6 years as a commissioned Medical Officer
- Paid in annual instalments of £10,000 during your final three years of university then a lump sum of £45,000 on successful completion of Officer training
- You will also be paid an Army salary during your two years of foundation period employment
