The Household Cavalry, a key part of the RAC, uniquely combines combat and ceremonial duties, making it one of the most high-profile regiments in the Army.
About the Opportunity
As a Household Cavalry Officer, you’ll lead elite troops in fast-moving reconnaissance operations using the Ajax armoured vehicle and take part in state ceremonial duties on horseback in central London. Training includes leadership at Sandhurst and specialist armoured and mounted instruction. The role offers broad development in combat tactics, engineering, logistics, and public representation, alongside formal leadership qualifications.
What We're Looking For
- Aged 17 years & 9 months to 28 years & 11 months
- 73 UCAS points and 35 ALIS points at GCSE (incl. English, Maths, Science or a language at minimum grade C/4)
- Meet basic physical fitness standards:
- Mid Thigh Pull 76kg
- Medicine Ball Throw 3.1m
- MSFT (Beep Test) level 8.07
- Willing to complete 44 weeks officer training and a 6-month Troop Leaders’ Course
- Strong leadership, adaptability, and commitment to ceremonial and combat roles
